Terms of Use
Last updated: 3 November 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Kuchai Studio Ltd (company number 16690181, registered office Vauxhall Railway Station, South Lambeth Road, London, SW8 1SS, United Kingdom), which makes the Recent app. By creating an account you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use Recent.
1. Who can use Recent#
You must be at least 13 years old. If you're under 18, you confirm that a parent or guardian has agreed to these terms. Recent is for personal, non-commercial use.
You must give accurate information when you sign up, and have only one account. You're responsible for your account, for what happens on it, and for keeping your password safe. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has got into your account.
2. Your content#
You own the photos, videos, captions and messages you add to Recent ("your content").
You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, copy, process and show your content, only to operate and improve Recent: for example, to show your moments to the members of your chapters when they open, and to show the moments you choose to share to your friends. This licence ends when your content is deleted, except for copies we need to keep briefly in backups, for an open report, or to meet a legal obligation.
You must only add content you have the right to share. That includes having the agreement of anyone clearly shown in it, where the law requires that. You're responsible for your content.
Content on Recent comes from its users. We don't check it before it's shared and we don't endorse it, but we may remove anything that breaks these terms.
3. Zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive behaviour#
Recent is for keeping memories with people you know. We do not tolerate objectionable content or abusive users. You must not use Recent to post, send or share anything that:
- is sexual content involving anyone under 18, or that exploits or endangers children;
- is pornographic or sexually explicit;
- harasses, bullies, threatens or intimidates anyone;
- promotes hatred or violence against people based on race, ethnicity, religion, disability, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or any other protected characteristic;
- shows or encourages self-harm, suicide or serious violence;
- shares someone's private or intimate images without their consent;
- is illegal, or promotes illegal activity;
- impersonates someone, or is spam or a scam;
- infringes someone else's copyright or other rights.
You must also not try to access other people's accounts or sealed content, interfere with how Recent works, reverse-engineer it, use bots or automated tools on it, or copy or scrape it.
4. Reporting, blocking and how we act#
You can report a message, an opening or a person, and block anyone, from inside the app. We review reports within 24 hours. If content breaks these terms, we remove it. If an account breaks them, we may restrict, suspend or permanently remove it, without notice where we think that's needed. Serious cases may be reported to the police or other authorities.
5. Complaints and appeals#
If you're worried about content or behaviour on Recent, or about how we've handled a report, email support@joinrecent.com. We'll look into it and reply.
If we remove your content or restrict your account and you think we got it wrong, email support@joinrecent.com with "Appeal" in the subject within 30 days. Someone who wasn't involved in the original decision will review it, and we'll tell you the outcome.
6. Sharing what you took#
An opening stays inside its chapter. You can share the moments you took from it with your friends, but never someone else's. Anyone in the chapter can keep a moment they appear in out of posts at any time, and a chapter's owner can turn sharing off. Please respect these choices, and don't share others' moments outside Recent without their permission.
7. Our app and brand#
Recent, including its design, software, name and logo, belongs to us or our licensors. We give you a personal, non-transferable right to use the app under these terms. That doesn't give you any right to use our name or logo.
If you send us ideas or feedback, we can use them freely, without paying you or crediting you.
8. Ending your account#
You can delete your account at any time in Settings → Delete account. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, if we have to for legal reasons, or to protect other users. If we stop offering Recent, we'll give you reasonable notice where we can. Sections 2, 7, 9, 10, 12 and 13 continue to apply after your account ends.
9. The service#
We work hard to keep Recent running and your content safe, but Recent is provided "as is" and "as available". We can't promise it will always be available, secure or free of errors, and you should keep your own copies of anything important to you. We may change, suspend or stop any part of Recent at any time. Recent is free to use.
10. Our liability#
Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't legally be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. It also doesn't affect your statutory rights as a consumer.
Otherwise, we're not liable for:
- losses that weren't reasonably foreseeable;
- losses caused by your content, by other users, or by things outside our reasonable control;
- loss of content you didn't keep your own copy of;
- business losses, such as lost profits or opportunities, because Recent is for personal use.
Our total liability to you is limited to £100.
11. Apple#
If you downloaded Recent from the App Store:
- these terms are between you and us, not Apple, and Apple isn't responsible for Recent or its content;
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for Recent;
- to the extent the law allows, Apple has no warranty obligation for Recent; if Recent fails to meet an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, which may refund the purchase price (Recent is free);
- Apple isn't responsible for any claims relating to Recent, including product liability claims, claims that it fails to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, or consumer protection claims;
- if anyone claims that Recent infringes their intellectual property, we, not Apple, are responsible for dealing with that claim;
- you must comply with applicable third-party terms when using Recent;
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
You confirm that you aren't located in a country subject to a UK or US government embargo, and that you aren't on any UK or US government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
12. Changes and law#
We may update these terms. If a change is significant, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect, and continuing to use Recent means you accept it. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you can also bring claims in your local courts.
13. General#
- These terms, together with our Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between you and us about Recent.
- If a court decides part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
- If we don't enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later.
- We may transfer this agreement to another organisation, for example if Recent is sold, and we'll tell you if we do. Your rights under these terms won't be reduced. You can't transfer your account or this agreement to anyone else.
- Apart from Apple, as set out in section 11, no one else has rights under these terms.
